Dr Roland Edwards is a part-time PhD student whose thesis is on the development of ergonomics in the UK since 1939. He retired from the MoD in 2011 after spending the last few years of his career as the Research Director for MoDs human and medical sciences research programme. He has worked at DSTL, where he founded the Human Systems Research group the Army Personnel Research Establishment and the RAF Institute of Aviation Medicine. He has also represented the MoD on numerous national and international research. He obtained his PhD in Physiology from UCL in 1984.
